Board of Trustees

Matthew M. Brady has been a Board Member since 2005. He serves as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. Matt has taught secondary science for ten years and is a special education-science liason in Massachusetts. He currently teaches biology at Keene High School to 10th graders including special needs inclusion classes. He is married to Jackie (Ethier) Brady and is father to six-year-old twins Benjamin and Madeline. Rounding out his family are Seemore Smelless Brady, a beagle, and Abby, a black cat.

Kate Guerrina joined the Board in 2008. She has been the Director of Marketing for a biotech manufacturing company since 2002, volunteers with the Youth Services Court Diversion Board, and is active with both the Vermont Employee Ownership Center and the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility. She lives in Westminster West with her husband, Rob, and their daughters Sophie and Lila (both of whom are Prouty “graduates”).

Steve Jones has been a Board Member since 2006. He serves on the Finance Committee. He is a CPA and has a public accounting practice in Brattleboro. Steve is a native of Putney and currently lives in Brattleboro.

Julia Kilelee serves as President of the Board.

Justine R. Lyford joined the Board in 2008. She serves as Vice President and is the Chair of the Development & Public Relations Committee. She is a parent of a child who attends the ELC at Prouty and was also followed by FIT. Justine is a passionate supporter of early inclusive education programs and is an advocate for her child with special needs and for parents of children with special needs.

Christian McLaughlin has been a Board Member since 2007. He serves as Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee and on the Development & Public Relations Committee. A native of Syracuse, NY, Christian graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1989 and was a Naval Aviator and Alaska Airlines pilot for 15 years. He was a Realtor in Seattle, WA and moved to Brattleboro in 2006 to be closer to family. He was a stay-at-home dad for a year and is now a Benefits Specialist/Sales Rep for Colonial Life. He is married to Kristin McLaughlin, COO of World Learning/SIT, and has two daughters, Tatum (4), who attends Hilltop Montessori, and Piper (2), who attends Prouty.

Melissa Mroz-Gaskill has been a Board Member since 2006. She serves as the Secretary and on the Strategic Planning Committee. Melissa is a primary teacher at Hilltop Montessori School and has lived in Brattleboro for 14 years. She enjoys hiking and canoeing and is the President of the Board for the Brattleboro Swim Team and a Council Member for Building Bright Futures. Melissa has been married to Peter Gaskill for 18 years and is a mother of three, Emma (17), Noah (14) and Anna Mary (12).

Liz Richards, MD has been a Board Member since 2007. She serves on the Development and Public Relations and Strategic Planning Committees.

Joanne Sprague serves as Treasurer of the Board.
